I grew up on the trails a few steps beyond my backyard, always with a dog leading the way. My time in the mountains and recognition of the decline of many of these natural spaces are what inspired my passion for detailing raw, ephemeral moments.
With a focus on the outdoors, appreciation of nature, and efforts to sustain it, I aim to tell a story people can connect to.
I began by teaching myself graphic design and photography. I continued my learning journey by self-teaching and instructing others on these and other creative skills.
While my passion lies in creating, I recognize that in order to develop content that performs well and garners engagement, the understanding of marketing/strategy is essential. I enjoy the opportunity to combine creativity and marketing to develop a story that resonates with people and is a detailed, authentic reflection of the brand I am working with.
Outdoor (auto, sports and earthy) photography and writing is how I fill my creative cup. I am grateful for my work, but when I was consistently (and only) creating for others it felt very empty. When I got my 4runner I decided I would move my career in a way that allowed me to do what I love for others and myself… and I am getting there!
This past summer I began traveling (driving and RTT camping) a lot around the north west, unsure of where I wanted to settle.
This is in part why I wanted to create/update this page. A lot of life has changed and I wanted a place to put everything. I also hope to use this page to connect/continue to take my work in a direction with brands/people I align with.
The dogs and I are still on the road a bit and in talks about where home might be, but the 4runner set up has had a huge impact on my mental state. It is the first thing I’ve ever felt like I did entirely for me and on my own. Being able to get something of your own, for your own needs, and doing it yourself is fun. Getting to work from anywhere with portable power stations, means to cook (a little bit anyway), capabilities to drive up shit roads for fun, and stop and sleep wherever makes me happy.
I have many things I’d like to do with Lyra (and the dogs). Should be a good year.
